Locavore Beer Works is a gem, tucked away in a strip mall on the corner of Platte Canyon and Bowles, with only a white letter sign “Craft Beer” to find it. But what a find it is. Walking in you get a glimpse of the outdoor seating with a fire pit surrounded by all handmade furniture made by a local company that continues into the inside that just give off a family, neighborhood, cozy kind of feel.
You can see aging beers separating out the seating area from where the magic happens. A long bar also stretches out the back of the place with TVs displaying whats on tap. You can see the live display of what’s on tap on their website too, so if you’re waiting for a specific brew, you know exactly when to go! They also serve food from a catering company next door which usually consists of a taco board, wings, a sandwich and an entree. Aside from the wings the rest seems to rotate as to the flavor of the week which is a lot of fun and keeps things fresh.
We have tried several beers, but the for me (D.J.), two most memorable that I have had so far are by far the Sister Christian and the Bloch’s Bounty. The Bloch’s bounty tends to my heart which is a milk stout, but the Sister Christian was just phenomenal. Lindsie really enjoyed the Sugar Magnolia and the Sister Christian. The Squirrel was close second though!
Locavore Beer Works is also very kid and dog friendly. When we were there last, there was a band, The Dollhouse Thieves, even played the Charlie Brown song for Anthony (since he was wearing a Charlie Brown shirt), embracing the kid-friendly feeling even more. Scroll down to see a video of Anthony dancing away at Locavore!

Dr. Z’s Brew Tip: Get the Sister Christian (but watch out its boasts over 9% alcohol and goes down too easy)
